About

006

In the late 1970s, I fell in love with Fenway Park in the Massachusetts city of Boston.

Funny thing…falling in love; sometimes you don’t recover!

A Sportie is such a person, one who can’t give up sports, no matter the cost in friends and jobs and family!

I was fortunate while living in Vermont to meet a family friend who thought the Boston Red Sox baseball teams walked on water. She regularly planned an annual trip to Fenway, and I soon became her partner in that sportswoman’s endeavor.

We were at Fenway for some memorable moments, including the one in the picture above in which I am handing a story to Baltimore Orioles catcher Rick Dempsey. The story is what I wrote about Dempsey’s rainy day antics at the park when all chances of a playable infield melted away with the torrential summer shower we endured.

Sports and writing are two of my passions that inevitably come together to challenge me.
